COMPANY HISTORY

Caddo Paint Company was founded in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1972 by Fred Huber, a paint chemist by trade, whose specialty was pigments used in traditional paint applications.  Some nearby cultured marble manufacturers approached Fred with a challenge:  provide tints and pigments suitable for use in cultured marble products.  He quickly formulated colored pigments that could be accurately and consistently reproduced. Caddo Paint marketed the pigments under the Sure Tone label to marble makers in the Southeast and later contracted with a Northern distributor who sold the pigments under its private label.  After 20 years in the industry, Caddo Paint changed to direct marketing to maintain better control of the brand and image in the marketplace and began marketing the products as Caddo Pigment.

Caddo Pigment became its own legal entity in 2013.  Caddo Pigment, L.L.C. continues to be a family-run business.  Mark Huber, son of founder Fred Huber, is the company chemist; his brother Brian, a CPA, is the treasurer; and Brian’s wife, Marilyn, is the national sales representative.

Today Caddo Pigments are marketed nationally and internationally.  Standard colors matched to most national brands of kitchen and bath fixtures are blended as well as special custom-color matches required by custom manufacturers.  Caddo Pigment takes pride in being able to match color from almost any medium.  Customers have expanded the use of our pigment products to the solid surface industry, the pottery industry, fiberglass applications, and other allied industries.  Our liquid pigments can also be used in 2-component systems such as polyester resins, epoxies, and urethanes.
